A native of California, Melinda Malher-Moran is proud to contribute positive, inclusive mental health services to the Indianapolis area. She believes all youth benefit from compassionate, non-judgmental counseling focused on a person’s unique strengths and resiliencies to overcome challenges.
Melinda holds a Masters of Arts in Expressive Therapies specializing in mental health counseling; she is licensed as a mental health counselor in Indiana (LMHC) and in California (LPCC). Additionally, Melinda believes mental health is not strictly limited to brain-based symptoms. Behaviors, actions, physical sensations and body-based symptoms represent a large majority of experiences. For this reason, Melinda completed further education and training to become a dance/movement therapist and holds a Board-Certification (BC-DMT) in the specialized area. Currently, she is training as a play therapist and enjoys integrating all of her training and experience to provide the best-fit therapy structure for each client.
Melinda has worked with children, teens and their families for several years in a variety of settings including office-based, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, school-based, home-based and through recreational services. She has served individuals in Northern and Southern California, Boston, Indianapolis and internationally in Nicaragua. Melinda also presents on her clinical and related work at conferences across the country.
Working with youth is a passion of Melinda’s – understanding the developmental lifespan is key to providing the appropriate techniques in therapy sessions. In addition to her clinical work, Melinda is an adaptive dance instructor for children with disabilities.
